Top 4’d for the first time in forever tonight. I’m back playing Wolf Run, which is almost an auto-win in our meta. I had a lot of fun playing goofy decks the past few months, but I’m trying to build up store credit again.
I may be going to the Nashville open, if I can find a deck that I am reasonably comfortable playing and I think will do well. Lotta major ifs.
So I opened a Japanese box tonight and got all this. The foil Temporal Mastery and Cavern of Souls were in the same pack.

I’ve been so busy playing Magic, I never got around to writing all those posts I talked about!
I want to take a picture of all the things I’ve managed to get in the past couple weeks, as my brother and I have been on a crazy luck streak of getting great pulls which has fueled some really great trading. I’m having a blast with this set!
Also, to everyone who had to draft with me before I could read any sort of signal, I’m sorry. I drafted with a bunch of newer people last night and it was hilariously bad.
This past weekend has been one of my best weekends of Magic ever. The prerelease I went to was amazing, and I drafted the Avacyn last night and did fairly well. I will probably go more in depth on my prerelease deck later, as an exercise in card evaluation and deck construction.

This week on “Things My Brother Opens in Draft” - Foil Garruk Relentless
All of the bad deck ideas are already flowing.
I can’t wait to get my hands on these cards!!
I don’t know what to say about Druids‘ Repository. It can ramp out some big creatures, but only in decks that are attacking a lot anyway. Maybe if there were some sort of aggro EDH deck, this could work out OK. Otherwise, I’m just not seeing a role for a card that doesn’t fir into aggro, control, or ramp decks.
This actually goes very nicely in my Omnath EDH deck that I just finished this week. The deck wants ways to save mana when Omnath isn’t around, so that when you cast him again you have a nice reserve of mana for him. This isn’t the greatest option, to be sure, but it’s always nice to have back ups.
I would also like to say that the deck is insanely fun if you are a Timmy at heart, like me.
I cast an 8/8 on turn 3 or 4 and nearly cried.
I’m currently writing a program to create Sealed pools for fun, but I’ve run across a few issues already.
I just started learning programming this year, so I’m trying this out as a project to help me improve outside of class. I hope to one day make it have an actual user interface, so my group can use it to practice at the local shops without having to buy packs (they don’t have free internet, so we can’t get to the online ones). Right now it is all text based running from a command window. But programming is really fun!
